Why External?
Ease of use. External frames offer convenient, comfortable access to components during set up and take down, which is why they are used in tents. Internal frames require set up and take down from inside the envelope, which is draped around the worker. The interior of envelopes also become contaminated during the course of work. An external frame is outside this space, minimizing contamination risk and reducing the amount of post job clean up.
Unitary Design
Collapsible one piece frames are quick to set up because they don't require assembly or experience. During storage parts don't become separated and lost.
Transport and Storage
Collapsed, the wheeled frames are little larger than a bag of golf clubs and easy to tip and go. This makes for quick portability from site to site, even on different floors. Space is difficult to find in facilities and even rarer on trucks, the units small footprint works with what's available.
